SHEL­DON AS BOARD CHAIR

Mark Shel­don Elect­ed Chair of the Board for North­west Flori­da Beach­es Inter­na­tion­al Airport 

PANA­MA CITY, Fla. (August 22, 2024) — On Wednes­day, July 24, Mark Shel­don was elect­ed Board Chair by the Pana­ma City-Bay Coun­ty Air­port and Indus­tri­al Dis­trict, which owns and oper­ates North­west Flori­da Beach­es Inter­na­tion­al Air­port (ECP).

He suc­ceeds for­mer Board Chair Hol­ly K. Melz­er, who was the first woman to hold the posi­tion. Dur­ing Melzer’s two years as Chair, she over­saw major devel­op­ments to the Air­port includ­ing ongo­ing expan­sion and con­struc­tion. She also wel­comed Project Maple, which is uti­liz­ing a Tri­umph Grant to wel­come the avi­a­tion main­te­nance and repair com­pa­ny Pre­mier Avi­a­tion. Melz­er will con­tin­ue to serve on the Board.

As for­mer Vice Chair of the Board, Shel­don plans to con­tin­ue to apply his knowl­edge of the Region’s econ­o­my, cul­ture and needs to pur­sue the Airport’s best inter­ests. In his new posi­tion as Board Chair, Shel­don will focus on diver­si­fy­ing and strength­en­ing the local econ­o­my through the growth of North­west Flori­da Beach­es Inter­na­tion­al Air­port while also pri­or­i­tiz­ing deliv­er­ing the best pos­si­ble trav­el expe­ri­ence for travelers.

The Pana­ma City-Bay Coun­ty Air­port and Indus­tri­al District’s pur­pose is to over­see and pro­mote the indus­tri­al, com­mer­cial and eco­nom­ic devel­op­ment of the dis­trict, espe­cial­ly through Air­port projects. The Air­port Dis­trict con­sists of sev­en mem­bers, serv­ing four-year terms and lim­it­ed to two terms. Two board mem­bers are appoint­ed by the City Com­mis­sion of Pana­ma City, two by the Board of Bay Coun­ty Com­mis­sion­ers, two by the City Coun­cil of Pana­ma City Beach, and one by the Board of Coun­ty Com­mis­sion­ers of Wal­ton County.

Shel­don served as the May­or of Pana­ma City Beach and is the COO and Man­ag­er Mem­ber of PCB Enter­tain­ment, LLC, and R&M Enter­tain­ment, LLC, where he man­ages large atten­dance music fes­ti­vals includ­ing the renowned Gulf Coast Jam. He also serves the Pana­ma City Beach com­mu­ni­ty on sev­er­al oth­er local boards and enjoys coach­ing his two children’s sports teams in his free time.
