PANAMA CITY-BAY COUNTY AIRPORT AND INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT ELECTS FIRST FEMALE BOARD CHAIR
Holly K. Melzer Elected Chair of the Board for Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (July 29, 2022) – On Wednesday, the Panama City-Bay County Airport and Industrial District (District), the District that owns and operates the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP), elected Holly K. Melzer as its new Board Chair. Previously Vice Chair of the Board, Melzer succeeds Glen McDonald, becoming the first woman to hold the position. McDonald will continue to serve on the Board. During the past two years as Board Chair, McDonald facilitated significant accomplishments, including successfully navigating one of the fastest growing airports in the country during an ongoing global health pandemic.
As a Partner at Barron & Redding of Panama City, Melzer will look to draw upon her business and legal expertise to ensure the best interests of the Airport and the people it serves. In her new role, Melzer will continue to prioritize economic development and enhance the passenger experience.
“I feel honored to take on this role during a time ECP and our Region are experiencing tremendous growth and momentum for the future,” said Melzer. “I have had the privilege of weighing in on key decisions as a member of this board since 2019. I look forward to building on the past successes and leading this organization in its next chapter.”
The District is governed by a seven-member board. Two members are appointed by the City of Panama City Commission, two members are appointed by the City of Panama City Beach City Council, two members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Bay County, and one member is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Walton County. Members are appointed for four-year terms and elect the officers of the District from amongst its members.
“Holly’s leadership and experience make her a perfect fit for this role,” said Parker W. McClellan Jr., A.A.E., Executive Director of Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. “She knows exactly what it takes to lead the Board and make strategic decisions to positively impact our growing Airport and Region.”
In addition to her law practice, Melzer serves on the Board of Directors of Anchorage Children’s Home, acts as the City of Callaway Code Enforcement Magistrate, and has served on the Supervisory Committee at Tyndall Federal Credit Union. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to her children’s soccer tournaments, and is an avid equestrian competing in dressage and show jumping.
