PANA­MA CITY-BAY COUN­TY AIR­PORT AND INDUS­TRI­AL DIS­TRICT ELECTS FIRST FEMALE BOARD CHAIR

Hol­ly K. Melz­er Elect­ed Chair of the Board for North­west Flori­da Beach­es Inter­na­tion­al Airport

PANA­MA CITY BEACH, Fla. (July 29, 2022) – On Wednes­day, the Pana­ma City-Bay Coun­ty Air­port and Indus­tri­al Dis­trict (Dis­trict), the Dis­trict that owns and oper­ates the North­west Flori­da Beach­es Inter­na­tion­al Air­port (ECP), elect­ed Hol­ly K. Melz­er as its new Board Chair. Pre­vi­ous­ly Vice Chair of the Board, Melz­er suc­ceeds Glen McDon­ald, becom­ing the first woman to hold the posi­tion. McDon­ald will con­tin­ue to serve on the Board. Dur­ing the past two years as Board Chair, McDon­ald facil­i­tat­ed sig­nif­i­cant accom­plish­ments, includ­ing suc­cess­ful­ly nav­i­gat­ing one of the fastest grow­ing air­ports in the coun­try dur­ing an ongo­ing glob­al health pandemic. 

As a Part­ner at Bar­ron & Red­ding of Pana­ma City, Melz­er will look to draw upon her busi­ness and legal exper­tise to ensure the best inter­ests of the Air­port and the peo­ple it serves. In her new role, Melz­er will con­tin­ue to pri­or­i­tize eco­nom­ic devel­op­ment and enhance the pas­sen­ger experience.

“I feel hon­ored to take on this role dur­ing a time ECP and our Region are expe­ri­enc­ing tremen­dous growth and momen­tum for the future,” said Melz­er. ​“I have had the priv­i­lege of weigh­ing in on key deci­sions as a mem­ber of this board since 2019. I look for­ward to build­ing on the past suc­cess­es and lead­ing this orga­ni­za­tion in its next chapter.” 

The Dis­trict is gov­erned by a sev­en-mem­ber board. Two mem­bers are appoint­ed by the City of Pana­ma City Com­mis­sion, two mem­bers are appoint­ed by the City of Pana­ma City Beach City Coun­cil, two mem­bers are appoint­ed by the Board of Coun­ty Com­mis­sion­ers of Bay Coun­ty, and one mem­ber is appoint­ed by the Board of Coun­ty Com­mis­sion­ers of Wal­ton Coun­ty. Mem­bers are appoint­ed for four-year terms and elect the offi­cers of the Dis­trict from amongst its members. 

“Holly’s lead­er­ship and expe­ri­ence make her a per­fect fit for this role,” said Park­er W. McClel­lan Jr., A.A.E., Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of North­west Flori­da Beach­es Inter­na­tion­al Air­port. ​“She knows exact­ly what it takes to lead the Board and make strate­gic deci­sions to pos­i­tive­ly impact our grow­ing Air­port and Region.” 

In addi­tion to her law prac­tice, Melz­er serves on the Board of Direc­tors of Anchor­age Children’s Home, acts as the City of Call­away Code Enforce­ment Mag­is­trate, and has served on the Super­vi­so­ry Com­mit­tee at Tyn­dall Fed­er­al Cred­it Union. She enjoys spend­ing time with her fam­i­ly, trav­el­ing to her children’s soc­cer tour­na­ments, and is an avid eques­tri­an com­pet­ing in dres­sage and show jumping.
