ECP BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPROVES TERMINAL PARKING LOT EXPANSION
Construction projects to impact holiday travelers
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (November 21, 2022) – In October, the Panama City-Bay County Airport and Industrial District voted to approve a more than $3.5 million Terminal Parking Lot Expansion project. On Tuesday, ECP issued a notice to proceed and overflow parking lot construction is already underway.
The Terminal Parking Lot Expansion project will add much-needed parking to the Long-Term Parking Lot, Employee Parking Lot, and the Cell Phone Waiting Lot, creating 500 new parking spaces and raising the total number of parking spaces at the Airport to more than 1800. During these ongoing improvements, holiday travelers should plan for impacts to the overflow parking lot process as ECP is preparing to see additional passengers on peak days during this Thanksgiving period.
“Last season, we parked an additional 800 vehicles in our overflow parking lots over the Thanksgiving holiday,” said ECP Executive Director Parker W. McClellan Jr., A.A.E. “This year, we are preparing for even more passengers to be using the Airport during the peak holiday travel season and our Operations team is prepared to deliver an excellent guest experience.”
While the project is ongoing during peak holiday travel seasons, passengers are encouraged to arrive a little earlier to allow for holiday traffic delays, parking lot impacts and long lines at the TSA Checkpoint.
“The Terminal Parking Lot Expansion project helps us enhance the passenger experience,” said ECP Board Chair Holly Melzer. “We have a plan in place to address any issues that may come with transitioning overflow parking during the peak holiday travel seasons. We thank our passengers for their patience and encourage them to allow for some extra time when heading to the Airport.”
The Terminal Parking Lot Expansion project is scheduled to be completed in June 2023. This and other new projects are part of the Airport’s development plan. For more information, visit: https://www.iflybeaches.com/ec….
