NORTHWEST FLORIDA BEACHES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (ECP) AWARDED $10 MILLION BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW GRANT
FUNDING TO SUPPORT ECP NORTH TERMINAL EXPANSION PROGRAM
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (OCTOBER 28, 2024) – Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) has been selected as one of 125 airports nationwide to receive funding through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law competitive grants for airport terminal development projects. ECP will receive $10 million to fund a portion of the North Terminal Expansion Program, which consists of the construction of an improved baggage handling area, more accessible restrooms, and an expanded security checkpoint area.
“We are grateful to be one of the airports selected to receive this funding,” said Parker W. McClellan, Executive Director of ECP. “The grant will allow us to enhance our facilities, improve the passenger experience, and support our Region’s continued growth and demand.”
$970 million will be awarded from the BIL to 125 U.S. airports. Through the BIL, a total of $5 billion has been allocated ($1 billion annually from 2022 – 2026) to provide competitive grants for airport terminal development projects that address the aging infrastructure of the nation’s airports. These grants will fund safe, sustainable and accessible airport terminals, airport-owned airport traffic control towers, and on-airport rail and bus projects that improve multimodal connections. This interactive map shows how these funds are being invested.
“We look forward to delivering upgrades that will benefit our community and visitors alike,” noted McClellan.
