ECP AIRPORT PREPARES FOR SPRING BREAK SURGE
TRAVELERS ENCOURAGED TO PLAN AHEAD
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (Thursday, March 6, 2025) — Each March, Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) experiences a significant increase in passenger traffic as spring break travelers make their way through the Terminal. As always, ECP is taking proactive steps to ensure smooth operations, working closely with airline partners and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to optimize efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.
“Every year, we welcome the energy and excitement that comes with spring break travel,” said Mark Sheldon, Chair of the Airport Board of Directors. “The team is fully staffed and ready to assist passengers throughout this busy season, ensuring they reach their destinations as smoothly as possible.”
In addition to preparing for the spring break surge, ECP is excited to announce new seasonal routes starting soon.
“We are thrilled to introduce our first-ever nonstop flight to New York City and new nonstop service with Delta Air Lines to Austin,” Sheldon added. “Partnering with Delta Air Lines to offer these new services will provide our passengers with more convenient travel options and enhance connectivity between these vibrant cities and the beautiful beaches of Northwest Florida. We are proud to bring these exciting services to our Region and look forward to welcoming travelers from the Big Apple and Austin.”
To help travelers navigate the increased volume this spring break and summer season, ECP encourages passengers to follow these best practices:
- Arrive early. Travelers should allow extra time to reach the Airport, park, check in, and pass through TSA screening. Arriving at least two hours before departure is recommended, as high passenger volumes may lead to longer wait times.
- Plan for Parking & Security. During peak travel periods, parking lots may fill quickly. Travelers should be prepared to use overflow parking if necessary. Additionally, expect security checkpoint lines to be longer than usual and follow TSA guidelines to expedite the screening process.
- Check In Online. Downloading the airline’s mobile app and completing online check-in before arriving at the Airport can save time and streamline the boarding process.
- Monitor Flight Status. Flight schedules are subject to change, and staying informed can help ensure a smooth journey. Passengers should regularly check their airline’s website or app for real-time updates.
- Pack Smart. To avoid delays at security, travelers should review the TSA Travel Checklist to ensure all carry-on and checked items comply with federal regulations.
Sheldon also reminds travelers to pack their patience and extend courtesy to fellow passengers and Airport staff.
“Our goal is to make every journey as smooth as possible. We appreciate travelers’ cooperation and understanding as we work to get everyone to their destination safely and efficiently.”
