ECP CELEBRATES 1 MILLION PASSENGERS
ECP welcomes 1 millionth passenger, first time in Airport’s history to happen in one calendar year
PANAMA CITY, FL (December 10, 2018) – Today, Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) celebrated it’s millionth passenger with a festive water cannon salute and gate welcome to all passengers on the plane marking the occasion. This is the first time in the history of ECP to achieve this milestone in a calendar year.
“Servicing more than 1 million passengers this year is an incredible milestone for our Airport,” said Parker W. McClellan, Jr., A.A.E., airport Executive Director.
“Celebrating ECP’s successful growth is a testament to the efforts of our Board, and our partners at the Tourist Development Councils (TDC), the Chambers and the Bay County Economic Development Alliance who are continuing to grow this community as an attractive destination for tourism and new business.”
In 2017, ECP had a record-breaking year servicing 939,437 passengers, a 4.4% increase from 2016.
In addition to the diligent work of the local TDCs and Bay EDA, the success of 2018 is largely due to the addition of American Airlines beginning service at ECP in June, the enhanced seasonal service and new non-stop destinations offered on Southwest Airlines, and the strong commitment to our Region from Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
Moving into its ninth year in its current location, ECP has experienced unprecedented growth resulting in several carriers now bringing in larger planes to accommodate increasing passenger loads and plans to undertake a $4 million terminal expansion expected to be completed before the summer.
