ECP CEL­E­BRATES 1 MIL­LION PASSENGERS

ECP wel­comes 1 mil­lionth pas­sen­ger, first time in Airport’s his­to­ry to hap­pen in one cal­en­dar year

PANA­MA CITY, FL (Decem­ber 10, 2018) – Today, North­west Flori­da Beach­es Inter­na­tion­al Air­port (ECP) cel­e­brat­ed it’s mil­lionth pas­sen­ger with a fes­tive water can­non salute and gate wel­come to all pas­sen­gers on the plane mark­ing the occa­sion. This is the first time in the his­to­ry of ECP to achieve this mile­stone in a cal­en­dar year.

“Ser­vic­ing more than 1 mil­lion pas­sen­gers this year is an incred­i­ble mile­stone for our Air­port,” said Park­er W. McClel­lan, Jr., A.A.E., air­port Exec­u­tive Director.

“Cel­e­brat­ing ECP’s suc­cess­ful growth is a tes­ta­ment to the efforts of our Board, and our part­ners at the Tourist Devel­op­ment Coun­cils (TDC), the Cham­bers and the Bay Coun­ty Eco­nom­ic Devel­op­ment Alliance who are con­tin­u­ing to grow this com­mu­ni­ty as an attrac­tive des­ti­na­tion for tourism and new business.”

In 2017, ECP had a record-break­ing year ser­vic­ing 939,437 pas­sen­gers, a 4.4% increase from 2016.

In addi­tion to the dili­gent work of the local TDCs and Bay EDA, the suc­cess of 2018 is large­ly due to the addi­tion of Amer­i­can Air­lines begin­ning ser­vice at ECP in June, the enhanced sea­son­al ser­vice and new non-stop des­ti­na­tions offered on South­west Air­lines, and the strong com­mit­ment to our Region from Delta Air Lines and Unit­ed Airlines.

Mov­ing into its ninth year in its cur­rent loca­tion, ECP has expe­ri­enced unprece­dent­ed growth result­ing in sev­er­al car­ri­ers now bring­ing in larg­er planes to accom­mo­date increas­ing pas­sen­ger loads and plans to under­take a $4 mil­lion ter­mi­nal expan­sion expect­ed to be com­plet­ed before the summer.
